The Antigone Project
For the 2008/2009 season, we were able to extend Shakespeare Leaders programming to occur year-round due to the generous support of the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation. Students at Frederick Douglass Academy produced The Antigone Project, a compilation of scenes from Paul Woodruff’s translation of Sophocles’ Antigone. In conjunction with the performance, students also visited the Worshipping Women: Ritual and Reality in Classical Athens exhibit at the Onassis Cultural Center in Manhattan.
